Steps for Participating in the Tradeshows in Japan

Here is a list of things to do when applying for the exhibition in Japan. Please contact the tradeshow organizer directly for detailed information in advance.

  1. Look for the right tradeshow for your products and choose it

  2. Apply and reserve the exhibition booth

  3. Confirm the booth

  4. Decide who will attend the tradeshow and for how long

  5. Pay the booth fee and reserve the hotel accommodations.

  6. Choose a shipping company. Normally there are official shipping companies designated by the tradeshow organizer, so contact the designated company or a company that can cooperate with the designated company.

  7. Choose a booth set-up company and place an order.

  8. Decide and prepare for the marketing including production of business cards, product catalogue, press kits, Japanese web site, direct mails, hiring of interpreters and booth attendants etc.

  9. Decide all the products and items to be exhibited

  10. Insure the cargo

  11. Transfer the products and other items to the shipping company

  12. Exhibitors visit the booth. Check the cargo and booth set-up etc.

  13. Complete the set-up and decoration of the exhibited products, items etc.

  14. Actual tradeshow period

  15. Take out the exhibited products and other items from the booth (sell or send them back to the US/donate or dump)

  16. Follow-up of the companies you talked to at the tradeshow
